Aptos Labs has announced MonoMove, the largest proposed upgrade to the Aptos blockchain's execution engine in its history.
In internal testing, the new engine ran smart contracts up to 55 times faster than the current system. It already ranks among the fastest in production blockchain, the company said on Monday.
A smart contract is a piece of software that lives on a blockchain and automatically executes actions, matching a trade, moving collateral, processing a payment, when certain conditions are met.
