Polymarket has said it will take the Netherlands’ gambling ban to court, reopening the dispute on Oct. 5 after a €420,000 enforcement penalty.
NL Times, citing Financieele Dagblad, reported that Polymarket plans to challenge the Dutch Gambling Authority, or Ksa, over its decision to classify the platform as an unlicensed gambling service. Polymarket argues that users trade financial contracts tied to future events and that oversight should fall to the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets, or AFM.
The dispute is not new. Adventure One QSS Inc., the company named by the Ksa as Polymarket’s operator, already challenged the regulator through the Dutch administrative objection process. The Ksa rejected that objection in June and kept its original enforcement order in place.
